Scripture of the Week: December 9-15, 2009

Romans 10:10-13

¹⁰ For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ¹¹ For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” [Isaiah 28:16] ¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek [non-Jews, everyone else in the world], for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. ¹³ For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” [Joel 2:32]

The word “LORD” is an Old Testament reverence in the Abrahamic covenant. The New Testament uses the word “Lord” which directly refers to Jesus since He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. [Revelation 19:16, Revelation 17:14, 1 Timothy 6:15]
